ABOUT OUR REMANUFACTURED ENGINES

CAROLINA MACHINE ENGINES remanufactures, at our facility, HIGH QUALITY stock replacement Longblocks and Block Assemblies as pictured. They are sold on an exchange basis or can be purchased outright by paying the reasonable core charge. The core charge is refunded if and when a complete engine core of equal value is returned to us. The core must be rebuildable which means the block, heads, crankshaft, rods, and roller camshaft must be reusable. For the same price we can pick up your engine and CUSTOM REBUILD it if you prefer.

These engines produce approximately the same horsepower and torque as originally manufactured. Engines not found in our price list may be available as a special order.

Each engine is completely remanufactured, "not just rebuilt" using state of the art equipment. This means that the engine is completely disassembled, cleaned, machined, and the pertinent parts and pieces are replaced regardless of their condition.

Only the highest brand quality parts are used such as: ACL, CLEVITE, CLOYES, CORTECO, DANA, DURA-BOND, DETROIT, ELGIN, FEDERAL MOGUL, FEL-PRO, HASTINGS, K-LINE, MAHLE, MANLEY, MELLING, PERFECT CIRCLE, PIONEER, SEALED POWER, SILVOLITE, STERLING, TRW, US SEAL, US TOOL AND VICTOR-REINZ.

During the remanufacturing process, the block is cleaned, inspected and completely reconditioned including cylinder boring and precision honing.

The crankshaft is reconditioned and micro polished and measured for surface smoothness with a sophisticated instrument.

The rods are reconditioned. All parts are meticulously final cleaned and carefully assembled by "ONE" highly trained experienced technician. We do not have an assemble line. One person signs his or her name to the engine.

New pistons, piston rings, bearings, gaskets, seals, and expansion plugs are installed in every engine.

The cylinder head(s) are completely remanufactured and new lifters, new timing chain/gears, and a new or reconditioned camshaft are installed. The pushrods and rockers are carefully inspected, installed and adjusted.

The now completed longblock engine is installed on a special machine and pressurized with heated "Break-in oil" and "Break-in enhancing additives". It is then "spin Tested" on this machine and checked for oil pressure, oil flow, and compression readings on all cylinders. The engine is then bagged and sealed immediately to preserve cleanliness.

A new oil pump or repair kit and the remaining gaskets are furnished for the installer to complete the engine assembly.

A written warranty is supplied with each engine. For non-commercial passenger car and light truck applications, a 12 Month-36,000 Mile warranty is supplied. 12 Month-12,000 Miles for Street Performance Engines.

We ship and pick up Nationwide and pass on our volume freight savings to our valued customers.

HIGH QUALITY remanufactured engines are rare, therefore for a superior engine please call, fax or email us for more information or to place your order.

HIGH TORQUE ENGINES

CAROLINA MACHINE ENGINES produces a HIGH TORQUE version of most engines. These engines are listed in our price list along with our stock engines and will have a "T" at the end of the part number. They receive a TORQUE type camshaft sometimes called a "RV" cam. Also we perform several other operations to enhance power.

Although these engines produce more torque and horsepower, they still retain a SMOOTH IDLE and require no changes to your vehicle. They are ideal for towing and produce up to 10% more horsepower than the original engine, yet there is no change in the warranty. Note: Any camshaft other than the original OEM camshaft may be somewhat noisier that the OEM camshaft and lifters.

As a rule these engines will not affect emissions, but emissions should be verified in certain states.

If you don't see the HIGH TORQUE engine you want in our price list, please call, fax or email us for more information.

PERFORMANCE UPGRADE ENGINES

CAROLINA MACHINE ENGINES produces a PERFORMANCE UPGRADE longblock version of most engines also. These are reasonable priced alternative Performance engines based on using the customer's engine or on an exchange for a good rebuildable core of the same type engine. However, most of the time we can supply a core at a reasonable price if the customer's core is not available. They are based on a combination of our famous High Quality Remanufactured replacement engines and our highly popular "Balanced, Blueprinted, and Dyno Tested HIGH PERFORMANCE PUMP GAS crate engines. We perform many horsepower enhancing operations. This includes a performance camshaft available in SMOOTH, MILD, LOPEY, or CHOPPY IDLE versions. We raise the compression ratio when necessary and perform cylinder head modifications such as a multi angle valve job. Although the horsepower may not be guaranteed as with our Complete Balanced, Blueprinted and dyno tested Crate engines, they are often dyno developed and receive many of the same parts and procedures. These engines can be made complete for a reasonable labor charge plus parts or by using the parts from the customer's original engine. Almost any V8, six cylinder, and many four cylinder engines are candidates to be built as PERFORMANCE UPGRADE engines. These engines are listed in our price list along with our Replacement and High Torque engines and will have a "P" at the end of the part number.

CME POLICIES AND DISCLAIMERS NOTICE:

Note that current SUPPLY CHAIN issues can cause unexpected delays. Also due to basically having to bid for certain parts such as aftermarket cylinder heads, a surcharge may be required for such parts.

Please use EMAIL rather than phone calls when concerning engine status, unresolved issues, complaints, warranty questions, etc. You can be sure our management  will read and respond. We cannot be responsible for "Word of Mouth" claims. Prices listed are subject to change /correction without notice. It is best that you have all quotes and other information in print (emails) as we do not accept verbal claims. Emails can take 1 to 5 working days to answer and sometimes longer.

For CORE REFUNDS to apply, returned cores should be the exact same engine as the engine purchased. Also assembled, complete, and rebuildable. Other cores of equal or higher value may be considered. No rusty or "junkyard" cores.

BUILD/REBUILD time for normal stock replacement, undamaged, non performance longblock and shortblock engines typically takes 10 to 20 working days. Other engines take longer which includes complete engines,  "High Torque",  Power Upgrades, and special stock replacement engines. Upgrades , changes, and additions to orders can  add considerable time. Antique, special, and  Performance engines can take three to twelve months or more depending on the engine. Any ETA, when quoted, is an estimate only and is not a promise or guarantee. We do not rush our engines. Please make your plans accordingly. Please do not call for updates, it takes time to look up a job to find the exact status. We prefer emails asking for updates or status which can take 1 to 5 working days to answer. We do not have the personnel to make routine calls or emails for updates, etc.

CANCELLATIONS after we have time and money invested into the job for stock OEM replacement engines require a 10% to 15%  cancellation fee of the quoted engine price. For Performance, antique, and special engine jobs, cancellations can be 25% or more of the quoted job price. A full refund can be made only after the order is completed and  the engine is sold elsewhere. This decision is solely at our discretion.

HORSEPOWER figures advertised may vary somewhat and also require that the user install the recommended performance parts and accessories such as carburetor, ignition system, and exhaust system for those figures to be accurate.

PEFORMANCE engines will be NOISER than OEM stock engines especially when cold. That is part of a Hot Rod's charisma. This is due to centered pin pistons, extra clearances, and faster ramp lift camshafts! This cannot be avoided. These are NOT warranty issues.

Engines sent to us for rebuild or machining should be STRIPPED PROPERLY. We absolutely DO NOT take any responsibility for lost parts when left on an engine such as brackets, tags, bolts, motor mounts, etc that are not needed for the rebuild of the engine. Also we require specific instructions in writting concerning the preservation of originality such as stampings, decals, tags, etc. We will make every effort to maintain the engine's originality when given written detailed requests but NO guarantees will be given.

We make no GUARANTEES expressed or implied of merchantability, fitness for special purpose, or exact original replication or specifications. Correct or matching casting numbers are NOT guaranteed or promised. WE DO NOT DO DATE CODES.

SLEEVING of cylinders and other  repairs can be part of any engine recon. Requests for no such repairs including minimum overbores and undersizes are extra charge and can add considerable time to the job. Also must be made in writing (email).

REQUESTS FOR PICTURES or videos during the building process cannot be guaranteed even when requested! Also not guaranteed available are spec sheets, build sheets, etc. This information is time consuming to produce and some information is proprietary and not available at all. When available, such special requests can be at extra cost.

IMPORTANT: Please READ the detailed WARRANTY supplied with your engine or request a copy at time of order. Note that field labor is not available for performance and some other engines. Purchasers are required to agree to NOT make chargebacks or deposits and payments for engines must be cash, check, or wire. Deposits and payments are considered acceptance of our policies and warranty.
